hey Greg I'll be right with you in a minute take your belt off get ready over there okay yeah just had to finish up with another patient there we're going to work on some transfers here today all right okay your balance needs a little bit more work everything else has been coming along real well so far okay let's get those legs ready to get you on to the mat all right swing this one out here you having any cramps in your legs at all no not yet now we're going to use a sliding board today we have to get that in place between the wheelchair and the mat so that you can get across there it's got a slippery surface on there so that you can scoot across a little easier now I need you to lean across over to this side over here put one arm over on the wheelchair there and you just got to kind of lean away a little bit so we can get this underneath slide okay can you feel anything pinching back there at all okay just lean back now get this arm over on the wheelchair never again and this arm here you're going to never walk again that's what they say the doctors not a hope except reality hi Ann what you got there hi Greg learn to live with what you can do adjusting they call it great adjusting to life in a wheelchair can you hold your balance there yeah last night like so many nights I dreamed I was well again okay I'm going to try to push you backwards you try to hold your balance for me now paraplegic I'll catch you if you go back a little bit I never even knew how to pronounce the word before trying to regain your balance again over and over I think of that night thanks bye Dad good night good night remember Greg easy does yes sir good night night who's not going to be there Cindy and Jack they're bringing new jeene oh my God they're bringing eug jeene just a minute let me put the cooler with the beer in the back seat everybody's bringing some you guys and your beer mom says you're all going to get big fat beer bellies me with a beer belly never oh and an my beautiful ant hey Tom it was a fun party hey guys please spare me nowhere there is no way on Earth you should have seen him in Biology class over was so cool dissecting the Frog he goes wait till you do a part I'm going to cut first I just wanted to leave no wayers ready do you have any rare it's a little too late for that go grab a plate charcoal broiling get one of these off early for you how's come on Jo what's the matter you're going to splat it all over your plate here it comes here it comes way to go Jo all the cars were like yeah yeah yeah the weekend I parked in the middle of the road like stop the car stop the car get out of your car okay boom this only like her second time scre so this would be Myer for seven months and five days three hours three hours yeah my parents like him that's good he's cute yeah you better hang on to him I know with all these [Music] girls my mind how could our happiness be behind she's crying C and there time she's just one [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] to how many beers have you had oh a couple no big deal I think you've had more than a couple look why don't you let me drive are you joking I don't bring girls to parties and have them drive me oh come off it with that Macho stuff you've had a few too many and I'm sober no way come on give me the keys uh-uh okay I'm going to go in and call my folks hey it's 2:30 in the morning are you kidding look they always said that honey you call them now and they'll scratch me off your list forever and ever I'm not drunk I swear I'm not drunk do you promise to drrive slowly I promise I promise [Music] [Applause] did I Drive slowly why can't I remember I remember and sitting beside me strange lights [Music] than nothing dr1 dr1 what happened you were in an accident accident when last night your car swerved off the road and hit a tree am I hurt bad am I going to live yes sure you're going to live make sure you're breathing out when you push that up now I remember feeling glad glad I was alive glad I was going to live I didn't guess the rest of the story then I can't feel anything now Greg you've been in a bad accident our initial tests show that you have a severe lumbar spinal cord injury you have no sensation in your legs no movement no control of your muscles no control of your bowel or bladder of course we'll be doing more tests but there's every indication this may be a permanent situation are you trying to tell me I can't walk you're crazy see I'm walking out of here Mom Mom tell me he's lying I'm going to walk again I am I am we'll see son we'll see soon as possible we'll have you in therapy we'll keep you busy working and learning to walk again to do what you can do I'm going to walk well first let's get you eating again build up your strength you're you're young healthy uh I'll be by tomorrow [Laughter] darling Dr 744 mom how's an was she hurt bad yes son she was how bad she dead oh beautiful beautiful an come on give me the keys uhuh okay I'm going to go in and call my folk I killed her didn't I son it was a terrible terrible accident I killed her at first my friends came a lot biceps and constant working out yeah Mr Universe a long way but that food will kill you what we'll do we'll bring you quart pound with cheese and a chocolate shake and large fries the works you'll have the Feast of your life just hurry up and get out look I'll talk to you later bye Jay your mom's good friends with an's Mom how is she not good I guess of course she blames me yeah and she didn't want to ride with me she said I had had too many it it was tough luck it was terrible luck it could have happened to anybody if you see Ann's mother tell her tell her I care how much can a person have dumped on them all the guilt losing an crippling myself I mean jeez I was only having a good time I'm no different from anybody else they say I've got to adjust accept reality yeah reality
