Description: Presents Dr. Irwin Moon using examples from astronomy and sequences of high-speed and time-lapse photography to show that time and space are relative standards of reference. High-speed photography illustrates the stretching out of a second with examples of a splash of milk, the disintegration of an egg as an arrow penetrates it, and a head-on automobile crash. Time-lapse photography compresses time in examples of a rose unfolding and the events of two days and night. Introduces some of the elementary concepts of relativity and the interrelation of time and space by the use of an imaginary trip at 167,000 miles per second, 90% of the speed of light. Illustrates the "Fitzgerald contraction" with the shortening of a yardstick, and the slowing down of a clock and the voice and heartbeat of Dr. Moon.
