MIRC has a 16mm Black & White silent copy of the My Home Town: Bennettsville 1946 film and has added a narrative taken from a similar film from the town of Mooresville, NC, as these films were made with an universal narration that was applied to many different Home Town films for efficiency of production. In the 1940s the ‘My Home Town’ series of films for Park Motion visited towns on the East Coast of America, from New Jersey down to Florida. We know 13 of these films still exist. There are many more that are now considered lost. At MIRC we are looking for the ones that feature towns in South Carolina that we believe were filmed as a part of this series and that have not been found, yet.
