Music boxes

Genre: Television

Year Published: 1959

Creator: KQED San Francisco Kathleen K. Rawlings Richard Moore Bash Kennett Ken Winslow Lillian Patterson

Format: 16mm

Description: Old music boxes bring to mind the story of man’s struggle to reproduce music mechanically. This led from the first vibration of a wooden music box to the present day hi-fi. Bash goes back to the early inventions of bell ringing and musical watches and traces the development through the Regina Sublima and the player piano. She shows and plays several interesting music boxes. The Lillian Patterson dancers interpret a rhythmic dance to the sound of mellow old-time music.
