Description: Produced by San Antonio’s KMOL-TV, these 1970s outtakes recount the history of Mountain Valley. A group of about 150 Mormons established the religious settlement on the Medina River in 1854. The settlers abandoned the site four years later following the death of their spiritual leader, Lyman Wight. The construction of Medina Dam flooded the former settlement, which now lies below the watery depths of Medina Lake. The end of the film captures a pianist’s performance of Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata.”
