It encompasses a large part of the world’s population and strongly influences life in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Southern Europe in particular. The Middle East is the cradle of Islam -the Prophet Mohammed was born in the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia about A.D 570 and it was there that the message of Islam was revealed to him. Islam is an Arabic term which means “submission to the will of God” and one who practices this doctrine is known as a Muslim,”one who submits”. In this film, viewers learn about the history, beliefs, and practices of the Islamic faith and its role in the lives of Muslims the world over. Islam, as the central unifying force for the large majority of the people and governments of the Middle East, holds a special significance for an understanding of that region,
