Description: Focuses on Hakurotwi Mude, singer and leader of a professional group of Rhodesian mbira players. Observes a variety of their performances, including an informal urban party in which Mude serves as a spirit medium, at a sacrifice, and at a neighbor woman's funeral. Portrays Mude as an intensely religious man who is comfortable with the potential dichotomy between the modern and traditional ways of life. Traditional music is sung in the Shona language with English language subtitles.
