Description: Episode of Series “Leaders of the twentieth century: portraits of power”. First in a two part film on Mao Tse-tung. His beginnings as a peasant farmer through to his rise to power in the 1949 revolution are highlighted in this film. Attention is also given to Sun Yat Sen’s nationalists: Chiang Kai-shek and Mao’s Communist Party of 1921. Narrated by Henry Fonda. Suitable for upper secondary levels.
