Shows how these people, despite the lack of soil on the island, have used seaweed and soil from rock crevices to make artifical soil in order to grow food. Dramatizes the skill of the men in their struggle to capture the giant sharks which inhabit the waters surrounding the islands and shows how oil is extracted from the shark and used as fuel by the natives.
