Man in the Antarctic

A general view of part of the coastal area of the Antarctic discloses the extremes of that fantastic continent: extremes of temperature, animal life, climate, and of terrain. Active volcanos and giant icebergs are side by side. Animal life teems on the shoreline of the vacant inland area. This ancient continent has only been touched by man in the last 80 years. Since 19601 the environment has been protected by international treaty and only scientific investigation takes place.
