Magnetic arc blow -- #welding

Transcription

the basic difference between the AC Arc and the DC Arc is this reversal of the current it has a very definite effect on magnetic Arc blow but first let's get an idea of what these magnetic disturbances are and how they affect the Arc in order to demonstrate this let's suspend the copper wire where a magnetic field can be brought to bear on it as long as no current is flowing in The Wire the magnet will have no effect but if direct current flows through the wire it will be attracted or repelled depending on the direction of the flow and the polarity of the magnet the same thing will happen if a magnet is placed near a DC Arc The Arc will be deflected in the same way the wire was and for the same reason
