Description: This 1962 film captures a walk-through of the Lundberg Bakery building before its renovation. Now known as the Old Bakery and Emporium, the Lundberg Bakery is a historic building a half-block south of the Texas State Capitol grounds in Austin. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.The limestone and brick building has a big cast iron eagle at the peak of its gabled roof, overlooking Congress Avenue. The rustic building was established in 1876 by Charles Lundberg, who emigrated from Sweden to Austin in 1872. Ownership changed frequently after Lundberg’s death in 1895. The Austin Heritage Society purchased the property in 1962 and began remodeling.
