Description: Illustrates the hope and despair of the Negroes in urban America through the life of a single Negro family. Shows the mother supporting her ten children on welfare checks, and in spite of all their poverty, she dreams of her children's success. Focuses on her 17-year-old son who drops out of school and gets a job in order to fulfill his dream of owning a fine car and shows the dreams of both mother and son being shattered when he is accused of arson and is sent to jail.
