[Music] in the Bible there are four different versions of the Life of Christ four accounts named after four different authors we call these accounts the gospels The Gospel according to Matthew the Gospel According to Mark according to Luke and John these accounts of the life and teachings of Jesus were written more than 18 centuries ago and then copied and recopied again and again as the story of the life of Jesus grew in Fame throughout the ancient world men began to make pictures to tell the story many artists through the centuries painted pictures of Jesus and the various artists portrayed Jesus in various ways as each painter imagined the way he might have looked looked many events of his life became favorite subjects for art such paintings provide a rich background of illustration for many of the episodes in the Life of Christ his life on Earth according to the gospels was about 30 years of all the episodes painted by artists perhaps none is more familiar than the enunciation in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth the angel was sent to Mary who was betrothed to Joseph and he came to her and said hail o favored one the Lord is with you but she was greatly troubled at the saying and the angel said to her do not be afraid Mary for you have found favor with God and behold you will conceive in your womb and bear a son and you shall call his name Jesus the holy spirit will come upon you and the power of the most high will overshadow you therefore the child to be born will be called holy the Son of [Music] God in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled this meant that all the people living in the Roman Empire had to travel to their own cities to pay their taxes and among the people were Joseph and his wife Mary but when they came to Bethlehem they stayed in a staple because there was no place for them in the Inn and in that region there were shepherds out in the field keeping watch over their flock by night and an angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord Shone around them and they were filled with fear and the angel said to them be not afraid for behold I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people for to you is Born This Day in the city of David a savior who is Christ the [Music] lord Glory Glory [Music] glor the Shepherds went with haste and found Mary and Joseph and the Babe lying in a Manger [Music] and when they saw it they made known the saying which had been told them now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king behold wise men from the East came to Jerusalem saying we have seen his star in the east and have come to worship [Music] him when they saw the star they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy and going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother and they fell down and worshiped him then opening their Treasures they offered him gifts so it was written concerning the birth of the Child Jesus during these early days other events happened that concerned the child his parents took him to the temple to present him to the Lord as it is written in the law of the [Music] Lord his parents took him also into the land of Egypt Joseph did this because he had been warned by an Angel that King Herod of Judea would try to destroy the Infant Jesus and so the Holy Family abided in Egypt until King Herod was dead and it was safe to return to their Homeland then Joseph Rose and took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel he withdrew to the district of Galilee and he went and dwelt in a city called Nazareth the family settled in Nazareth and the child grew and became strong filled with wisdom and the favor of God was upon him when he was 12 years old his parents found him one day in the temple in Jerusalem sitting among the teachers listening to them and asking them [Music] questions and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers his parents too were amazed and his mother said said to him behold your father and I have been looking for you anxiously and he said to them how is it that you sought me did you not know that I must be in my father's house and they did not understand the saying which he spoke to them and Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man so it was written concerning the Boyhood of Jesus Jesus grew up in Nazareth working in his father's carpenter shop and the years passed when he was about 30 years of age Jesus left Galilee and came to the River Jordan to John the Baptist to be baptized by [Music] him and when when Jesus was baptized he went up immediately from the water and behold the heavens were opened and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove and low a voice from Heaven saying this is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased then Jesus was led up by the spirit Into the Wilderness to be tempted by the devil the gospels recount that the Temptation lasted for 40 days then Jesus returned to Galilee from that time Jesus began to preach saying repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand as he walked by the Sea of Galilee he saw two brothers Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea for they were fishermen Jesus asked the fishermen to let down their Nets once more at first Simon Peter hesitated because they had caught no fish nevertheless because Jesus had asked the fishermen let down their Nets and when they had done this they enclosed a great sh of fish and Jesus said follow me and I will make you Fishers of Men immediately they left their Nets and followed him now these simple fishermen became the first Disciples of Jesus in Time more disciples followed him to learn the new lessons of love and faith that Jesus preached to them he who receives you receives me said Jesus and he who receives me receives him who sent me many of the things Jesus said and did were written down in the gospels and he went about all Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every infirmity among the people the people were amazed and great multitudes followed him and pressed upon him once the crowds were so great the that Jesus preached to them from a boat and all who saw and heard him wondered at The Marvelous things he told them once Jesus went up on a mountain to preach and this sermon came to be called The Sermon on the Mount Jesus Illustrated some of his ideas by using familiar comparisons he said to the multitude consider the lies of the field how they grow they neither toil nor spin yet I tell you even Solomon in all his glory was not array like one of these but if God so clothes the grass of the field which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven will he not much more clothe you oh men of little faith and then Jesus continued but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things shall be yours as well after Jesus delivered his Sermon on the Mount he continued his teaching and healing and the Blind and the lame came to him in the temple and he healed them and according to the gospel many followed him and he healed them all people came to him in great number the lame the blind the sick again and again the gospels tell how he healed them not only did he cure many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits but he also raised the dead among them was Lazarus the brother of Mary and Martha and there were other ways in which Jesus demonstrated the power of faith in synagogues and in villages and by the roadsides he preached the Kingdom of Heaven he taught lessons of faith and love Love by using examples examples of the Good Samaritan the lost sheep The Prodigal Son and many more with many such Parables he spoke the word to them during his ministry as the gospels remind us he taught them as one who had [Music] Authority once when Jesus was in a boat with his disciples a storm of wind came down on the lake the disciples were afraid saying master master we are perishing and he awoke and said to the Sea peace be still and the wind ceased and there was a great Cal he said to them where is your faith and and so it was written concerning the powers of Jesus in commanding the waters and in healing and in raising the dead as the months passed the accounts of The Marvelous things that Jesus said and did began to disturb the chief priests so the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the council and said what are we to do for this man performs many signs but one of them Caiaphas who was high priest that year prophesied that Jesus should die so from that day on they took counsel how to put him to death yet Jesus continued his teaching to those about him he said let the children come to me do not hinder them for to such belongs the kingdom of God so Jesus traveled with his disciples and preached and they passed through Jericho and Bethany and came to [Music] Jerusalem and when he entered Jerusalem all the city was stirred saying who is this and the crowd said this is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee in Jerusalem Jesus was angered to find money changers in the temple he drove them out and overturned their table saying you shall not make my father's house a house of trade Jesus taught in the temple and the Pharisees and the Sadducees argued with him and tried to dispute his teachings but for each one who questioned his authority he had answers so profound that they were astonished at his words they thought that Jesus was destroying their Authority so they conspired to kill him to the priests came Judas es scariot one of the TW disciples he told the chief priests he would deliver Jesus to them and they paid him 30 pieces of silver while they schemed to betray Jesus the time came for the Feast of the Passover a yearly holiday of the Jews Jesus gathered with his 12 disciples in a home in Jerusalem at this Gathering which became known as The Last Supper Jesus announced truly truly I say to you one of you will betray me the disciples cried is it I Lord is it I is it [Music] I then Jesus said the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table the hand that Jesus meant was the hand of Judas es scariot then Jesus Took bread and said take eat this is my body and he took a cup saying drink of it all of you for this is my blood of the Covenant after the last supper with his disciples Jesus went to a place which was called Gethsemane and he knelt down and prayed father not my will but thine be done it was to this same place that Judas came with a band of soldiers and officers of the Jews he drew near to Jesus to kiss him but Jesus said to him Judas would you betray the son of man with a kiss and They seized Jesus and bound him and so began the final hours the prophecy that Jesus had made to his disciples was being fulfilled the son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes and they will condemn him to to death before the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate the chief priests accused him of saying he was Christ a king and pilate asked him are you the king of the Jews Jesus replied you have said so and pilate said I find no crime in this man but the people were urgent crying out away with this man crucify crucify him so pilate delivered Jesus to be crucified and the solders put a crown of thorns about his head and they struck his head and spat upon him then pilate once more took Jesus before the multitude saying here is the man then he said take him yourselves and crucify him for I find no crime in him and as they led him away there followed him a great multitude of the [Music] people and it was the third hour When They Crucified him and with him they crucified two robbers one on his right and one on his left standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's Sister Mary the wife of kapus and Mary Magdalene and when the sixth hour had come there was Darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour and at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice my God my God why hast Thou forsaken [Music] me Jesus said it is finished and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit [Music] after this Joseph of arthea came and took away his [Music] body and Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud and laid it in his own new tomb which he had Hune in the Rock And So It Was Written concerning the crucifixion and death of Jesus but the account is yet not [Music] ended and very early on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and bomi went to the tomb when the sun had risen and entering the tomb they saw a young man dressed in a white robe and they were amazed and he said to them do not be amazed you seek Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified he has risen he is not here now when Jesus rose he appeared appeared first to Mary Magdalene and he appeared again to two of his disciples in a little town called emus at the table he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them and they recognized him he appeared also to his disciples in Galilee and Jesus came and said to them go therefore and Make Disciples of all Nations teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you and lo I Am With You Always to the close of the ageu [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hallelu [Music]
