Leap from the water tower

One of the films that was part of the Hazards of Helen serial, produced by Kalem from 1914 to 1917. Helen, a telegraph operator, is the victim of a spiteful railroad employee fired for misconduct. He cuts the locomotive's brakes so that the train is unable to stop. In a daring rescue, Helen drops onto the train from a water tower and resets the brakes.

The first 50 or so episodes were produced, directed and occasionally starred SA born J.P McGowan, whose wife Helen Holmes also starred. Episode 9 was first released Jan 9 , 1915, and this Blackhawk Films reprint also includes introductory text on the background of the film with particular interest to railroad enthusiasts. It was filmed on location in Cajon Pass, California. Producer J.P McGowan also stars as the 'villain'.NOTE: Two (or more) records have been merged together to create this data.
