Description: This lyric opera is set against the bohemian life of two impoverished artists both in love with a ballerina. In Clair's stylized comedy, the artist, Michel, heavily in debt, wins a million florins in the lottery. While Michel tries to evade his creditors, a master criminal Pere La Tulipe, leads a detachment of police into the protagonist's building in a a parallel elusive effort. To add to the mounting disorder, Michel's girlfriend, Beatrice, unwittingly gives la Tulipe Michel's old jacket as a disguise, without realizing that it contains the winning ticket. The madcap search for the ticket ends at the opera with everyone desperately trying to recapture the prize.
