Description: The highest navigable body of water in the world at 12,500 feet of altitude, is a challenge to divers and oceanographers. This trip meant discoveries in the fields of physiology, biology, geology and archaeology. There are traces of at least five civilizations in this area, four of which pre-date the Incas. The sun penetrates the water more deeply, and divers are handicapped by vegetation as well as by the altitude.
