Description: Documents the stages of labor from hospital admittance through the actual birth of a baby. Identifies common tests, including internal exam of the cervix done periodically in the first stages of labor, and graphically illustrates cervical changes during labor. Observes the use of breathing and relaxation techniques, coached by the husband, as contractions continue. Shows birth in the delivery room, including the episiotomy, the birth of the placenta, and breast feeding. Discusses briefly the hospital care of the mother and newborn, care of the mother and baby during the first few days at home, and the role of other family members.
