[Silence]. [Guests clapping]. [Mayor Tom Bradley] We have provided you with the means and the resources to carry on your work- to hire people under the SETA Program (?), to provide for the medical, psychological, other human service needs of some 200,000 people who come through this center every year. [Silence]. [Unidentified reporter talking]...it says here maybe... [Bradley]...members, friends and supporters of the Gay and Lesbian Community Services Center, I am delighted to be here. Honored to receive this certificate. I'm happy that my second visit here uh...is on this occasion where the gift which I bring this time is a little bit more substantial than the one I brought before. [Guests laughing]. Last time it was a certificate. [Guests laughing]. Couldn't exchange it at the bank for anything [Guests laughing]. It was an expression of my concern and that of the rest of us in city government. Today I come to bring you a check symbolic of the $233,000 that the City of Los Angeles through the efforts of the City Council and joined by myself in order that you may discharge your obligation and that this building, this facility, now may be free and clear of that debt. [Guests clapping]. This is merely a continuation of the kind of financial support which the City has given over the past few years at a time when it wasn't... ...concerned and that support which we gladly give. We wish you the very best as you continue your service. Now some reference was made to the fact that SETA (?) may be cut back. In fact, may be terminated. Nobody really knows. Reference is made to the fact that the money which has been coming forward in rather sizable chunks in the past [Guests clapping].
