Description: Original camera footage edited for broadcast for KNTV San Jose Channel 11 news on November 2, 1966. The broadcast script for this date has not survived. Reel 1: Segment 1 (silent): Small group of women, carrying a large poster addressed to Governor Brown, walk into the San Jose main post office to mail the poster. They are protesting food prices. Segment 2 (sound): Interview with priest regarding nurses' pay, possibly Alexian Brothers Hospital administrator. The reporter asks, "Girls all over the country are aiming at higher wages. How do you handle this from a practical and ecclesiastical view?" The priest says they recognize that the nurses are due a just wage and they are trying to follow this through. Segment 3 (sound): Nurses picketing outside the San Jose Veterans Hospital. Placards read, "Informational picketing -- not a strike" and "VA Nurses Need Your Support." Interviews with several nurses about why they are picketing, and how the administration has handled their actions. Reel 2: Segment 1 (sound + silent): Two Congressional candidates for District 10, Charles Gubser and George Leppert, seen speaking to the San Jose Jaycees. Both are interviewed about Vietnam. Gubser says that Leppert is inconsistent in his position; Leppert argues that he has consistently backed plans of people like ambassador Kennan. Segment 2 (silent + sound): Footage of the exterior of the Governor Brown campaign headquarters next to the Manpower Opportunities Project headquarters. Bullet holes can be seen in the front windows. The person in charge of the Manpower Opportunities Project is interviewed and asked if there is a relationship between his office and the Brown office, and he says there's no connection at all, and they've been up and running without any issues for six months. He's advised his employees to stay away from the office. Segment 3 (sound): Man interviewed about a suit he's filed with regard to the Santa Clara County Tax Assessor's office ongoing battle. The reporter asks whether the grand jury will let it slide. He answers that the situation has devolved into name calling between the attorney general Thomas Lynch and County tax assessor Dwight Mathiesen, and he would like to get back to the business of auditing companies. Reel 3: Segment 1 (silent + sound): Footage of the aftermath of a fire at the San Jose Shopping News building; the building is completely gutted, and firefighters are on scene tending to the remains of the building. A man is interviewed about the fire and says that tomorrow they will be clarifying with firefighters about the security of the building. He says they think the fire may have started in the rear of the printing shop. Segment 2 (silent): PIckets outside the "Transcript" publishing offices. Shots of the interior lobby, where it appears that paint has been thrown on desks and chairs. Pressmen are picketing outside the offices. Reel 4 (sound): Interview with man about a report.
