Reel 1 (sound): Interview with San Francisco Warrior's coach Bill Sharman, who talks about the team's summer training plans, the clinics they're holding for the public in San Jose. Reel 2: Segment 1 (silent): Several men smiling and talking. Close-up of a plaque for the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Segment 2 (silent): Pickets outside the Hotel Sainte Claire in downtown San Jose. The entrance marquee reads, "Tony Davis at the Piano / Rotary Press Pettit Past Fine Ally". The picketers are all wearing shaggy wigs and sunglasses, two are playing guitar. Signs read, "Protest Pettit" "Roast Russ" and "Robber Russ." Segment 3 (sound): Man-on-the-street interviews near the Titan III rocket on display in a parking area. Reactions range from "a necessary display of force," to "I don't know, I leave those decisions up to other people" and a mother of a serviceman who says it makes her frightened. Segment 4 (silent): Robbery investigation at Markovits & Fox scrap metal yard. Motorcycle policeman on site interviewing employees; shots of the billboard sign for the company; interiors Reel 3: Segment 1 (sound): Man interviewed about what the Attorney General's office is doing and whether they've received any files. Appears to be in regard to the investigation of the Santa Clara County Tax Assessor's Office. Segment 2 (sound): Man being interviewed about effects of Medicare on health care costs. He says in the short term there will be confusion, particularly due to last minute changes in the regulations. In the long run, due to the limited cost formula, there will likely be higher costs for under-65 population, and a possible decrease in healthcare quality for those over 65. He hopes this won't happen, and that everyone in the medical community is doing everything they can to make Medicare a success. Segment 3 (sound): O'Connor Hospital spokesperson says he is not aware of any unrest in the nursing staff at O'Connor, despite there being unrest in other areas of the Bay Area. He is asked about salary adjustments, and says the nurses received a salary adjustment last year, and that there will be a hospital-wide salary increase coming in August. Segment 4 (sound): A spokesman for another hospital in Santa Clara County says that all of their personnel, including nurses, receive two salary increases each year. One is a general pay increase, and the other is a merit increase on the anniversary of their employment. Reel 4 (sound): 4th of July public safety announcement by a man seated in his office with a U.S. flag and a California flag on his credenza. He may be from the California Department of Highways. "A month ago, on Memorial Day weekend, 57 people were killed in California traffic accidents. The reports on these [holds up report with right hand] are of particular interest in that 64% of the deaths resulted from single car accidents [camera zooms into close-up of the report]. None of these cars was driven by the other fellow [footage of cars driving on highway]. Each driver involved [profile of man driving] was alone with a chain of circumstances and decisions that in each case led to death and injury. [Footage of rear of car driving on highway] In each case, the roadway was good, the weather clear. But here, on Highway 99 south of Bakersfield [view of overpass and shoulder of road from driver's perspective], a woman died and a man was injured. It is believed the driver went to sleep [shot of totaled automobiles]. On this Stanislaus County road [rural road seen from driver's perspective], a 13-year unlicensed driver was driving too fast for conditions, took this hump too fast, and a youngster died right over there. [Still of police with totaled cars]. Three more were injured.
