Reel 1: Segment 1 (silent): Group of women in suits, hats and white gloves, poolside at a hotel next to the beach in Santa Cruz [Appears to be what is now The Dream Inn, 175 West Cliff Drive]. They are posing for the camera, all wearing ribbons pinned to their jackets, likely Miss California beauty pageant contestants. This is followed by footage of a beauty pageant queen in her tiara waving in a parade from a float as it goes past The Dog House restaurant on Beach Street. A military marching band follows, then another beauty queen in a convertible passing "Smartland" store. Segment 2 (sound): Young golfer [appears to be Ron Cerrudo] talking about how he's been doing at the competition, and the course, and his hopes for tomorrow. [Presumably related to the amateur golf championship happening in Pebble Beach, or the 1966 U.S. Open held in San Francisco] Segment 2 (sound): Interview with a man involved with Santa Clara County elections. He is asked if a Mrs. Bond had come in to see him. "Yes. She requested that I have Maurice Hardeman's registration cancelled and that I not count the votes cast, and not certify the votes cast at the last election, and that his name not appear on the general election ballot and that the next two candidates do appear on the ballot, which would be Paul Teilh and Renee Baum." "Did you honor her request?" "No. On the advice of Santa Clara Counsel, there were not sufficient grounds...and I do not have the authority..." [These three individuals were running for San Jose Judicial District Office No. 4] Segment 3 (silent, color): Footage of golf championship in Pebble Beach. A young couple in their bathing suits stroll along the bluff straight through the golf competition as the players look at them. Reel 2: Segment 1 (silent): Structural fire at night, fire crew working to put out blaze. Segment 3 (silent): Short clip of young man in head bandage standing in a hallway. Segment 4 (silent): "Napalm Ladies" opening wrapped gifts -- framed prints of flowers -- outside the Municipal Court courtroom in San Jose during their trial. [Appears to be Joyce McLean and Beverly Farquharson]. Segment 5 (silent): Daytime footage of aftermath of structural fire. Fire crew on site, including firemen Jensen and Furnage, two children look up at the camera from the lawn, mid-century furniture outside on the lawn. Reel 3: Segment 1 (silent): Footage of the Hoover Tower at Stanford University. Camera pans up and down the tower, then to the bust of Herbert Hoover, and signs for the Herbert Hoover Room and the Lou Herbert Hoover room, interiors of both rooms, then more footage of the tower. Segment 2 (silent + sound): Footage of Red Cross blood kits on shelves, female lab technicians with microscopes testing vials of blood. Man is interviewed about blood supply. "Well, we hope to contact more people to have an aggressive recruitment campaign over the summer so that there won't be any slump..." He gives the opening hours. More footage of workers. Segment 3 (silent): Older man with beard, wearing a long coat, seated alone in the audience at Stanford's Frost Amphitheater while an orchestra plays on stage. He then gets up and walks down to the stage, where he starts conducting the orchestra. Reel 4 (sound): Press conference with representatives of DiGiorgio Corporation regarding negotiations with striking agricultural workers. One of these men is likely Robert DiGiorgio. Speaker 1: A Caucasian, balding man with glasses says to microphone, "One of these preconditions is that DiGiorgio workers would have only the NFWA submitted to the as a proposed union bargaining agent. The other is that anyone who would work for DiGiorgio in the past 10 months would have the right to vote, which obviously is an impossible condition, as it would involve the participation of workers now employed by other growers in various sections of the state, perhaps in other states as well. Therefore, in accordance with Bishop Willinger's recommendations, DiGiorgio Corporation has enlisted the services of the national public accounting firm of Touche, Ross, Bailey & Smart to at as an impartial supervisor of an election by the hourly workers of DiGiorgio Sierra Vista ranch near Delano and Borrego farm near San Diego County. This election will be held on Friday, June 24th. The election will be by secret ballot and it will provide the workers the opportunity to choose whether or not they wish to be represented by a union. They will also be asked to state their preference among unions which have claimed to represent DiGiorgio workers: The Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the National Farm Workers Association. A blank space will also be provided for those wishing to write in any other union. Speaker 2: Caucasion man, clean-cut, with wavy hair, also wearing glasses: "I would specifically like to see done the parties enter into an operation which would disabuse workers of some of the fears that they have, to give them a real indication that there was real honesty on the part of the parties involved to serving their choice, the developing of the kind of a neutral atmosphere, some time wherein the balance of communication as between the company and between the union could be brought into some kind of alignment.
