Segment 2 (sound): Los Angeles Mayor Sam Yorty comments on Governor Brown's trip to Washington after Brown said he urged Johnson to stay out of the California primary. Yorty is asked whether the president had gone back on his pledge to stay out of the gubernatorial race. Segment 3 (silent): Mid-decade census -- "Countdown 66" -- underway in Santa Clara County. Footage of woman walking up sidewalk to a house; rings doorbell; speaks to resident and fills out a form. Segment 4 (silent): Representatives of San Jose area industrial firms invited to San Jose Fire Department's practice field on Virginia Street for demonstration of new miniature fire engine manufactured by Cushman Motors using "Purple K" compound. The portable engine is shown putting out a small jet fuel fire. Reel 2: Extended story on the U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding obscenity conviction of Ralph Ginzburg and what it means: 1) Interview with Harold Speilberg, owner of Playboy Cigar Store in downtown San Jose, who says he's relying on advice of his attorney, but has already removed the entire section related to sadism and masochism 2) Exterior of Mercury News building, with rotating globe on top of building. Interview with Dale Lane, editorial writer for San Jose News, who says this will encourage certain groups who favor censorship 3) Interview with Dr. Dwight Bental, head of San Jose State Journalism Department, who notes that this puts decisions in hands of people not qualified to judge 4) Les Groshong, owner of the State Book Store on First Street, is interviewed, says he wishes he had more information from social scientists on the effects of pornography.
