Reel 1: Segment 1 (silent, color): Governor Brown visits a Santa Rosa dedication for laborer training program. Footage of Brown giving a speech outdoors, shaking hand with men in hardhats, looking through surveying scope, and witnessing a small demolition. Voice-over script reads, "Brown spoke about 'opportunity' in a visit to Santa Rosa, California, and said that particular word is lacking from the vocabulary of his opponent, Reagan. The occasion of the governor's comments was the dedication of a unique training program for laborers. After the dedication and the speeches, the governor was escorted on a brief tour of the camp by Terence O'Sullivan, Vice President of the Laborers' International Union, which initiated the training program at the camp operated by the Marine cooks and stewards. The governor got a close-up look at the way the union trains laborers and semi-skilled trades with machinery, earth-grading instruments and blasting devices. He ended his visit with a noisy practical course in moving earth with dynamite! The governor was obviously pleased with the results!" Reel 2: Segment 2 (sound): Candidate Ronald Reagan comments on unemployment, says there's an excess of unemployment in this area, over and above the unemployment rate in California, which is already higher than the nation. He says his proposed plan will call for more vocational education, job retraining, and a partnership between private industry and government to train people to fill the 40,000 jobs that are going unfilled in California due to lack of trained candidates. Segment 3 (silent): Footage of gravestones in a cemetery; sprinklers in the cemetery; cars driving by. Story on Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors choosing which cemetery in which to bury the indigent dead, and whether or not to cremate them. Segment 1 (silent): Footage of boat trade show in Chicago, preview of boats due in 1967. Voice-over script reads, "Nearly 1000 boats, the largest recreational fleet ever assembled, are unveiled to dealers. But it'll be 1967 before these boats appear in public. For those who sail, there's this fiberglass model, with a new design that leaves a clear, uncluttered cockpit. And here's a houseboat, for 'cruising down the river on a Sunday afternoon'...New engines range from low-horsepower outboards to this 525 horsepower racing hemi. Boat companies are showing a new line of high performance models. This hydro-vee hull provides stability and a soft ride, they claim -- it looks spooky to me. Taking a cue from their automotive cousins, some new boats offer bucket seats that rotate 360 degrees, and adjust to four reclining positions. When a pair of seats are folded, they make an ideal lounge for sunbathing." Segment 2 (silent): Scene at the corner of Oak Street and Sherman Avenue at night, where a car has crashed into a small tree. Fire personnel are on the scene. A young man is seen tussling with the fireman, and is finally subdued and placed in a police car. According to the story, 24-year old Lupe Serrano Vierra clipped the corner and a bystander called the fire department to rescue him from his crashed car. Upon arriving, they found Vierra uncooperative and verbally abusive, so they phoned the police.
