DiMaggio signs his cast; gives him a baseball. Urlrich is interviewed about how he sustained his wounds. Broadcast script reads, "The first two men to arrive at Fort Ord hospital today were SP4 Duane Urlrich of Pittsburg, California, and SP5 Geronimo Cortez from Fresno. Both men were wounded in action with the First Infantry Division, Cortez in the Mekong Delta region when he was blown up by a Claymore type mine, and Urlrich from gunshot wounds at Loc Ninh. The men were greeted by Major General Robert Ferguson, commanding general at Ford Ord, and by famed baseball player Joe DiMaggio who happened to be on the post.
