Reel 1: Segment 1 (silent): Story on robbery and shooting at Standard Service Station near intersection of Metcalfe Road and Monterey Highway in San Jose. Shots of the Coyote Percolation Pond sign; Standard Oil Station exterior, blood on floor of bathroom; interior shots including service area and manager's office; exterior shots of gas pumps; police detectives examining the scene and talking to the manager, Charles Ash. Segment 2 (silent): High Sierra Cup Races open at Heavenly Valley Ski Resort. Shots of giant slalom racing. According to script, France's George Maduit edged out Jean-Claude Killy, with Tahoe Valley's Jim Huega coming in third. In the women's giant slalom, Wendy Allen of San Pedro led the field, followed by Annie Famose of France. Segment 3 (silent): Easter parade at Lone Hill Elementary School. Shots of children parading outside the school wearing homemade Easter bonnets, with teachers participating in the parade, and mothers watching the parade. Segment 4 (silent): Ribbon cutting at opening of shoe-shine stand in the east corridor of the Santa Clara County Administration Building. Emilio Flores of San Jose is shown in his smock next to the station as Chairman of Board of Supervisors Charles Quinn signs over the stand to Flores. Flores' wife Georgia and his two sons Danny and George were also present. First customer Rita Dallas is seen seated in the chair. Flores was the recipient of an Economic Opportunity Loan from the County. Reel 2: Segment 1 (sound + silent): California Republican Assembly opens 3-day convention at San Jose's Civic Auditorium. Ronald Reagan is asked about the CRA's endorsement and the chance they might decide not to endorse. Reagan responds that it could contribute to unity if the volunteer organizations didn't. Followed by silent footage of Reagan speaking to reporters. Segment 2 (sound): California gubernatorial candidate Los Angeles Supervisor Warren Dorn does not expect California Republican Assembly endorsement, and says he hopes they do not endorse anyone before the primary. Opines that the primary is for the people to vote, and only after the people have voted, should organizations weigh in with endorsements. Segment 3 (sound): Candidate William Penn Patrick is also asked about endorsement, says if he comes away with 20% of the vote he would be very happy. He thinks it's been fairly well locked up for some time.
