Reel 1: Segment 1 (silent): Footage of a small airplane crashed into a tree by the side of a road, with investigators on site. Segment 2 (sound): Interview with two passengers from the crashed plane in segment 1. "I never realized anything was wrong until we started bouncing around, and it was over so fast, by that time everybody was getting out of the plane." Reporter: "Mr. Biack [sp?] how did it feel?" "How did it feel?! I don't really know. I didn't have time to think." Reporter: "What happened to you? You've got a bandage on your head up there and a black eye." "I got a little cut up on the head and bounced around, but I don't know yet what really happened. Alls I know the seat came loose with it." Reporter: "The plane landed in a tree -- did either of you see this tree coming up?" "I didn't see it." Reporter: "In other words, you thought that you were on a normal approach to San Jose airport? The next thing you knew you'd crashed?" "Right. The pilot said brace yourself, and I just thought it might be just a little bit of a rough landing, and I didn't even realize we were gonna crash until we'd already done." Reporter: "How did you get out of the plane?" "I went out through the normal exit door, myself, and I think most of the people in there -- there was a couple went out through the emergency door." Reporter: "Are either of you going to fly again soon?" [Wry chuckles] "I don't know. Have to think about that." Segment 3 (silent): Brief footage of a well-dressed African-American man speaking at a podium in a small auditorium. Segment 4 (silent): Dairy Council of California Mobile Dairy Unit on site in a parking lot, to visit a group of elementary school children. They show the students flip cards, and show them how to milk a cow. Reel 2 (sound): Interview with Western Airlines representative. Reporter: "Why has Western decided at this time to apply for permission from CAB to serve San Jose?" "Western has been very interested in serving San Jose for several years. The main impediment was an unwillingness, or an indication at least, from the Civil Aeronautics Board, not to entertain any application for service out of San Jose in the hands of Western Airlines. However, recent developments involving Pacific Airlines has indicated to Western that such application, namely from San Jose to Los Angeles, might be entertained." Reporter: "Do you think the volume of traffic from San Jose, which is a relatively small airport, would make this a profitable venture for you at all?" "Definitely. Every statistic we've been able to gather indicates that this is a tremendous market right at this particular time, and in the future years we'll continue to expand to more than justify our being here." Reporter: "You mention some cities that would be served out of San Jose. In the event the application is approved, what other cities would you be able to fly to on Western out of San Jose?" "Actually, our certificate reads -- or our application reads -- that any city that we do serve now out of San Francisco can be served as well out of San Jose, namely we could conceivably have San Jose-Seattle, San Jose-Denver, San Jose-Minneapolis, perhaps even internationally San Jose-Mexico City or Acapulco. Reporter: "If CAB approves the application, how soon do you think it will be before We4stern begins its service?" "Well, we expect that it will be very very soon that there will be some action made. August 10th is the first date a decision might be rendered. It probably will not be on that date, but it will probably be in the next couple of months, at the very latest the end of the year." Reel 3 (silent + sound): Group of young people, possibly students, shopping in a store with a young Asian woman, who appears to be chatting with them and giving them advice, or commentary on different products, including books.
