Reel 1: Segment 1 (sound): Man interviewed about agricultural worker supply. "The reason for this is there's an estimated shortage of domestic pickers to the amount of braceros they want to bring in. No, this entire estimate is based upon a shortage, an anticipated shortage of workers, and this is why they already agreed, or it has been agreed, that this money.." Reporter: "Now, 6000 coming to Northern California -- how many coming to Santa Clara County?" "This we do not know at this point. Our understanding is that the Department of Labor will make the assignment as between coastal region and the interior region." Segment 2 (sound): Member of San Jose City Council speaking to camera. "Well, basically the Association of Bay Area Governments, formed over 5 years ago, and with member cities from the 9 cities surrounding the Bay, and the County governments surrounding the Bay, is the first organization of its type to bring together county and city governments. ABAG is recognized by the Federal government as the regional government for the San Francisco Bay area, and the Federal government requires most or many of its federal applications from cities an counties in the Bay area to be reviewed and approved by ABAG prior to review in Washington by the Federal government. This would include airport expansion projects with FAA, it would include mass transportation act grants of 1965, and of course all of our parks and playground applications under Title VII open space. As an example, just yesterday we received notice that our 3/4 million dollar grant from the Federal government was approved for the municipal golf course, an industrial park here in San Jose. This grant application had to go before ABAG for its approval, something better than 2 months ago. So the organization is very important to the government of the Bay area, and I think the public will find it even more important in the next few months to come." Segment 3 (color, silent): Footage of a blue and white Bell Jet Ranger helicopter taking off, and seen from above as it flies over the area, including a highway. It then lands back at an airport. Reel 2: Segment 1 (silent): Man speaking to camera; believed to be involved with hospital administration negotiations with Santa Clara County nurses. Segment 2 (silent): Women working in a cannery processing cherries and peaches. Footage of fruit being loaded into cans, quality control, cans going through conveyor belt systems. Reel 3 (sound + silent): Reporter interviewing [Milpitas] Chief of Police outside suburban house where a murder-suicide has taken place, near the corner of Marylinn Street and Barker Street in Milpitas [appears to be 349 Marylinn Street]. Reporter asks many questions about what has happened. "Chief, what happened in there?" "Well, as far as we can determine, all five members of the family are dead. Four were murdered and one committed suicide." "How was it done?" "With a rifle -- a 30 30 rifle." "What's the time element on it. You said something about 12 hours?" "We estimate about 12 hours ago." "That would put it about 6 o'clock this morning?" "Yes." "Who turned in the alarm?" "A neighbor was concerned about not seeing the family out today, she sent her husband over, and he found the first body, called the police." "Were animals involved?" "Yes, a dog and cat were in the garage." "Has anyone established a motive yet for the crime?" "No, not as yet."
