Reel 1: Segment 1 (silent+sound): Three men seated for press conference inside a room full of computer tape drives and a control desk. The questions from the press are muted, but the responses are in sound. One of the men says they are happy with the results and that there was no defoliation on the hillside. No appreciable delays by power line problems. The final site will be decided by the end of the year, and maybe considerably before the end of the year. He says they've heard reports from all six sites but that no choice has been made despite the rumors. Segment 2 (silent): Defendant in homicide trial, Clarence McDowell, enters courtroom in prison jumpsuit, sits down. Reel 2: Segment 1 (silent): Older man receiving honorary degree in academic robes. Segment 2 (sound): California Republican Senator Thomas Kuchel arrives at airfield in small plane, exits and shakes hands with two other men. Interviewed by reporter, whose first question is muted. Kuchel says he sent him [presumably Ronald Reagan] a telegram of congratulations and said that he wants to talk to Reagan and looks forward to knowing what his views are on some questions where Kuchel's own position is well known, and the people of this state would be interested. "I can't tell you an answer to that question now." Reporter asks, "You have not made a firm decision one way or the other?" Kuchel replies, "No, nor have I expressed myself on a firm decision basis." Reporter's next question is muted, but Kuchel responds, "Well I thought I made my position clear with respect to the letter I received from Mr. Parkinson, and I don't think I need to comment on it anymore. I am delighted to be a Republican senator from California and I'm trying to represent the best interests of all the people in my state, and that's the only way you get any satisfaction out of this position, my friend, and that'd doing what you think is right." Reporter jokes, "Tell me, have you found out who in the hell Parkinson is?" Kucher laughs, "No, I don't think I know!" "Thank you, Senator." ["Parkinson" is Dr. Gaylord Parkinson, then California Republican chairman] Segment 3 (sound): Man interviewed under tree outside a building. "I was disappointed. I supported Mr. Christopher [George Christopher]; however I'm now a Reagan supporter. The primary is over and the contest is narrowed down...I'm strongly for Reagan." Reel 3: Segment 1 (silent): Beauty pageant. African American contestant is performing in a sequin bikini in her knees with two sticks; audience claps. Cut to same woman in formal gown being crowned Miss Tan [Miss Tan America?].
