Description: Original camera footage edited for broadcast for KNTV San Jose Channel 11 news. Includes national, local, and sports coverage. The broadcast script for this date has not survived. Reel 1: Segment 1 (silent): San Jose City Council meeting. Two nuns enter the council chambers and open a box that contains a nun doll, which a man talks about while the Council members clap. Three women speak at the microphone while Mayor Ron James listens. Segment 2 (sound): Man on the street interviews with four people about their attitudes towards striking workers and whether the government should intervene. First interviewee: "I think the machinists have every right to disregard the pact, because they feel it isn't right. That's why we're in a country where everybody has a right to choose, and I don't think the president should be able to step in and say this is what you have to take." Second interviewee: "Yes, I think Congress oughta pass some kind of legislation of a temporary nature right now to get 'em back to work, and then pass some permanent legislation so that these public service people aren't going on strike all the time." Third interviewee: "I don't like to see anything forced on anybody regardless of what it is, you know?" Fourth interviewee: "I myself feel no because it's more or less bringing on the big brother attitude in the government. I think it's up to the individual. If they don't have the right to go back to work when they want to, I mean what's the point in, ah, living in a democratic system?" Reel 2: Segment 1 (silent): Apricots on drying trays on a hillside. Two young people lift a full tray of apricots off a stack of trays and carry it to a an empty spot in the grass. Segment 2 (silent): Exterior of USO building, showing USO sign. Women in assorted uniforms and civilian dress inside the club, mingling. A small group of them file in front of the camera to pose as a group. Older women are seen sitting together, talking. Segment 3 (silent): Young child drinking from a cup as women in casual clothing sit around a room that might be part of the USO club in the previous segment. A lot of papers are tacked to the walls, including what might be a license. Segment 4 (silent + sound): Sailboat grounded just off the Monterey coastline, as a sailor in heavy sweater talks to divers on the beach. Reporter Dennis Rowedder then speaks with one of the boat's owners, who says they came in faster than they thought and it was very foggy, but they were rescued by the Coast Guard and the frogmen. Segment 5 (silent): Milk cartons inside a dairy case.
