Description: Original camera footage edited for broadcast for KNTV San Jose Channel 11 news on November 3, 1966. The broadcast script for this date has not survived. Reel 1: Segment 1 (silent): Appears to be a story about a bank robbery at the First National Bank. Shots of tellers inside, someone examining a message inside an envelope, police talking to a cab driver and dusting the cab for fingerprints. Segment 2 (sound): Interview with Santa Clara University football player about how the team is pulling together. Segment 3 (silent): Women's flag football game at Buck Shaw Stadium, Santa Clara. Segment 4 (silent): Panel of men speaking at microphones, unknown event or location. Reel 2: Segment 1 (silent): Scene of a car crash off of a bridge into a canal. Segment 2 (color, sound): Interview with Carroll Shelby at what appears to be a tire trade show. He comments that they've got tires now that are 12-15 inches wide, and in the auto racing world, most of the increased speed is due to tire improvements. Shelby is building six new cars for the Indy, but only one will be driven by their team driver, Dan Gurney. He mentions the GT 350 and GT 40 being produced at their factory in Los Angeles and the wheels they'll be using. Reel 3: Segment 1 (sound): VA Hospital nurses picketing along the side of a road. Interview with VA hospital administrator, who says they're not sanctioning the activity, but aren't prohibiting it, either, and the nurses have been very responsible in putting patient care first. He notes that VA nurses have always had higher starting salaries than the rest of the community because they didn't get the same fringe benefits; he also says that salaries are set by the government and there's not a lot that the local administration can do. Segment 2 (sound): Gasoline service station owner has decided to stop offering merchandise giveaways, and instead lower the price of his gas. Shot of him pumping gas, gas pump. Female customer speaks to reporter from her car, saying she saw the owner on television and hear he was offering lower gas prices, and she would prefer to pay lower gas prices and just purchase the merchandise she wants. Reel 4: Segment 1 (sound): San Jose firefighters gathered in a room with the fire investigator to talk about the fire at the San Jose Shopping News building. The investigator asks them to state their observations of the scene. Cut to the investigator speaking to camera outside in daytime saying the fire was now considered suspicious based on the statements of the firefighters. Segment 2 (sound): Pickets outside the San Jose Shopping News building. "San Jose Tribune and Shopping News -- Unfair to Organized Labor."
