Reel 1: Segment 1 (sound): Interview with man involved in negotiations with Santa Clara County nurses. "We're very relieved that it's over. It's been a long, difficult negotiating period of about 6 weeks, but now that it's over, we feel the Board and the administration and all the staff did their very best to protect the public's interest, and still be fair and equitable to nurses." Reporter: "What's this going to do as far as expense for patients?" "We haven't determined the final figures yet, we are going to have to come to an agreement with the Board tomorrow evening on a final rate increase, which will be substantial, and this will undoubtedly be announced on Wednesday morning." Reporter: "Do you have any idea what it might be?" "Right now, it's going to be several dollars a day but I would be reluctant to give you the final figure because we're still trying to determine the impact this is going to have on other personnel." Segment 2 (sound): Interview with nurse. "The majority of nurses consider it a great victory, not only for the nurses that have proved they can remain united in a professional manner, but also for the Board of Directors who assumed a leadership role in retaining a salary range that is far superior to any in the Bay Area, and even across the nation. The salary range gives credit for education, for experience, for professional performance, and also provides a nurse with an incentive to maintain a level and also to further her own care, her own standard, and improve the standings of the hospital."
