Journalist Stephen O'Malley returns from Europe to write a biography of Robert Forrest. He meets Forrest's widow, Christine, at Forrest's funeral. Christine is the "keeper of the flame", protecting her husband's memory and reputation. Christine reveals that Forrest was a fascist, plotting to gain control of the U.S.
