The 10-lane stretch of highway officially opened on December 20, 1968, the day after this segment aired. The footage appears silent and would have been voiced over by the anchorperson during a live broadcast. The Katy Freeway is another name for the portion of Interstate Highway 10 that connects Houston and Katy.
