Jungle farming

Description: Episode of Series “Indians of the Orinoco: the Makiritare”. Describes the cooperative work involved in jungle farming of the Makiritare Indians. Explains that, after the men use the slash and burn technique to clear the jungle away, the women simultaneously harvest and plant manioc roots, pineapples, chillipeppers, bananas and plantations. Living near the equator they can farm all the year round. Suitable for upper primary and lower secondary levels.
