Description: . John Adams is sworn in as the second president of the United States, with Thomas Jefferson as his Vice President. A new crises with France arises, ending a peaceful beginning to a new administration. Jefferson attempts to convince Adams of the trouble brewing in a cabinet controlled by Alexander Hamilton. But the President will not listen. Focuses on the futility of the peace missions to France. Later, the public eye is captured by the XYZ Affair and many voices urge Adams to declare war with France. However, word comes to the President from John Quincy in Europe that the mood of the French has changed. With assurances from his son, Adams sends another peace mission to negotiate with Talleyrand.
