[Music] these Jabs with these weapons of medicine combat in the South and North Pacific areas watch them in action now let's head back to the States and get a closeup of some of those weapons stuff that was captured on that two and in the Solomons this is the Japanese heavy machine gun model 92 caliber 303 as you can see it's air cooled and it's gas operated now the Japanese have a Mania for dust covers here is one this roller P serves a double purpose as a dust cover and a p and to open it you pull back on your operating slide handle your dust cover sply open automatically also an interesting feature is their Oiler you'll notice the brush and the little plunger as each round goes into the weapon they oil themselves by pushing up on this little plunger and the brush brushes it now the load the weapon they put in a 30 round strip and the strip rides across the gun they also use the gun as n aircraft gun by putting on this arm they put it into the mount and put the piece up into the mount rotate W around notice the four power telescope this is probably the finest Japanese telescope ever made in Germany you have a very fine graduation on your traversing mechanism also there's fine graduations for elevation and for depression it's a very fine piece of equipment and all the gun weighs 110 lb now to carry the gun they have to put two poles into the front of the weapon because that is the heaviest part and two privates carry the front portion and a PFC gets to carry the light part we were up against this weapon down gu Canal the Japs are plenty accurate with it too the thing to do is to get rid of the guy that are operating it at least that's what our outfit did follow a you AG go with the sergeant boat they have some more to show you over there this is a Japanese light machine gun model 1936 303 caliber weighs 19 lbs which is 3 lb lighter than our P I got hit by four SS Miss job at Gu canel Machine Gun and myself I rate this as an A1 weapon fired from two positions either the prone position using this bipod or the HP grabbing a hold of these two grips this handle is also used to remove a barrel it's magazine fed magazine holding 34 rounds here we have the usual amount of dust coverage it's air cooled gas operated and out here on the front is a flash hiding fires anywhere from uh 500 to 1,000 rounds a minute all in all it's a very good weapon and it's the gun to be respected in the field well fellas that's what I have for you if you go down to the next table have some swell dope on the [ __ ] rifles here we have quite a few captured Japanese rifles this is a model 1905 6.5 mm or approximately 25 caliber it's a bolt action weapon and weighs 8 1/2 lb it did use quite a few of these down in the Solomon Islands this is the model 1919 it is a 7. 7 mm or 303 caliber it is also a bolt action weapon it has an interesting feature here though a hinged floor plate now it would be fast to remove a jam where youd have one in the magazine it also has a stock rest the stock rest is used when frying from foxol it has a dust cover that protects the Bol but it fires just as well without this dust cover as it does with it I would you rate those rifles Carper all B the par without bolt action jobs not quite so good on all around [Music] [Applause] quality open
