Description: Follows three young men in pre-independence West Africa on their journey of discovery from Niger to the Gold Coast and shows each finding employment and adventure in either Accra or Kumasi. Concludes with their return home where they settle down after having become "jaguars," or men-of-the-world. Records the freedom and sense of opportunity which existed in West Africa during the 1950s. French narration with English subtitles., A group of young men in West Africa leave their life of cattle herding in the arid savannah-land bordering the Sahara and begin a journey of thousands of miles, taking them to the coast of Ghana and back again. Seeking wealth and adventure on the coast and in the cities of Ghana, the men return home as jaguars, sophisticated men with money and a knowledge of urban life. The dialogue was improvised by the young men while watching themselves on film.
