Complete Record: According to April Edwards, the 13-year-old narrator of this film, alcohol is an integral part of everyday Am- American life. April is not an alcoholic, but she drinks, as do most of her friends. Candy, J.J., and Francie, teenagers who are currently involved in counseling programs, discuss their alcoholism and the problems that drove them to drink. Although the consumption of alcohol by underage youth is officially illegal, many rock radio stations, with primarily teenage audiences, accept advertising for wine and other alcoholic beverages. In advertising, in magazines, on TV, and in the movies-everywhere alcohol is associated with good times, glamour, and sophistication. April thinks there should be more dialog between parents and their children, and more and stronger talk, plus guidance, from teachers, the church, and government.
