Live lamb birth., In a farmhouse on the shore of Bras d'Or Lake, Cape Breton Island, Shawn Peter Dwyer, age 10, lives with his mother and nine brothers and sisters. Because money is scarce, the Dwyers make the things they cannot buy and rely on working together. Trees are felled to heat the house and water lugged in an assembly-line of buckets. Shawn is philosophical about life without a father and cramped quarters: there's lots of love in a big family; you've always got people to play with.
