Contrasts the romances of two college roommates. One of the girls is impulsive while the other hesitates to consider marriage until she has solid proof through the processes of courtship, going steady, and engagement. Provides an opportunity for discussion through an open-ended conclusion. Peg is impulsive and emotional. She falls for cleft-chinned football star Joe. They want to get married, but everyone else in the film tells them it would be a big mistake. Peg’s college roommate Liz, tries to explain the complexities of marriage. Peg shrugs it off. Peg’s parents are no help at all. They do not approve of Joe and they regard her reaction to them as “just a touch of hysterics”. In the end Peg and Joe elope. Then the trouble begins (without gruesome details).
