They want to get married, but everyone else in the film tells them it would be a big mistake. Peg’s college roommate Liz, tries to explain the complexities of marriage. Peg shrugs it off. Peg’s parents are no help at all. They do not approve of Joe and they regard her reaction to them as “just a touch of hysterics”. In the end Peg and Joe elope. Then the trouble begins (without gruesome details).
