Description: Shows in detail the process of making the three main parts of a puppet--the head, hands, and dress. Illustrates how the head and hands are molded with plastic clay and covered with six layers of papier mache, and how the rest is cut from a pattern and hemmed. Demonstrates the importance of the painted facial expressions and of the material and form of the wig, in establishing the unique personality characteristics of the puppet. Concludes by showing other completed puppets., Demonstrates how the head and hands of a puppet are modeled from plasticine, the application of papier-mache, ́ painting the puppet, designing and sewing the costumes, and controlling the puppet from the stage.
