Description: This black & white film military training film "How to Get Killed in One Easy Lesson" was shown to infantry recruits during WWII. It is part of a series of "Fighting Men" films, designed to reinforce principles taught in field training. In this case, the film focuses on how careless behavior -- leads to death. Copyright 1943. Opening: Official Training Film - Fighting Men - How to get killed in one easy lesson (:08-:35). American soldiers advance in a jungle, they crawl on their stomachs. An A Japanese enemy soldier fires his gun at him, misses, the G.I. retaliates and shoots the enemy. Another enemy soldier shoots at the American and misses, his gun jams. The American makes both men get out of their trees and he advances on them with his gun but they were made to throw theirs down. The American has his bayonet pointed at them. He is angry they killed his other men but the Japanese soldier explains the Americans 'killed themselves' (:36-3:24). The Japanese soldier explains they were careless. American soldiers go through water. Americans take cover coming up the hill. One of them pokes his head out and is shot by a Japanese soldier. The American falls back dead. The Japanese solider kills another American who hid alone behind a bush. The Japanese soldier waits for the American soldiers. A soldier waves a white flag and is killed, another has a shiny bayonet and gives his position away and is shot and killed (3:25-5:30). Another American runs, takes cover by jumping down into a dirt pit. Another soldier goes into the same pit and doesn't advance, he pops up in the same spot and is shot dead. Two soldiers talk and give away their positions and one is shot. Another group are all bunched up together - they are blown up by a Japanese mortar and killed. They are strewn about. Another group of soldiers in the same ditch, they are all shot dead by a machine gunner who watched them (5:31-7:00). The American takes the two Japanese soldiers and leads them through the jungle at gunpoint. They run into other Americans who round up the enemy. The surveying soldier tells an MP (Military Policeman) that he will train other men to be better and give them a lesson on how to get killed (7:01-7:56). End credits (7:57-8:01).

so [Music] [Music] [Music] all right jojo throw that rifle down [Music] all right get down out of there bobby come on make it snappy or i'll blast you down you dirty rats i gotta run my bailing into both of you i saw what you did to my platoon back there ten of my men you picked off ten good american soldiers big pot not very good american soldiers what's that good american soldiers very hard to hit these were easy listen jack those guys were my pals and they were damn good soldiers see and one more crack eddie and i'll kill you just like you kill them big pun not quite true huh they were not cute by us they killed themself what the hell are you talking about japanese soldiers very clever they have to be killed american soldiers very dumb they get careless and killed themselves all we did was pull a trigger very simple we were waiting for you to cross the river your men were coming up the hill they all take cover some of them very hard to see one man behind big tree he popped his head right over the top fast very good target not to miss he committed suicide stupid fella some of them go down and disappear i can't find them but one man goes behind bush all by itself now i know just where he is i don't get him first shot but i know i will get him you see very dumb soldier there is death too we wait for americans to show themselves very nice to see very fine one man has shiny bay on it very pretty bayonet makes nice reflection on cmp4 very simple now i see soldier take cover so i watch this place but this is smart soldier it doesn't come up same place another soldier took cover he walked right into sight this man stupid he comes at the same place where i'm watching two of them were talking about love very silly hey joe that looks like a good spot over there no come on over here not me i know what i'm doing that soldier talked himself to death one group of men very silly all bunched up together behind a hill maybe they get lonesome one japanese smarter so no more men at all i saw another group if they had stayed apart they would have been alive but they all want to get into the same little ditch one of our machine guns out of the flanks for them too they're still back there in that ditch you see they all killed themselves very dumb soldiers so sorry okay okay you're not so smart i got you didn't i i've gotten 30 americans hey you fix up his arm all right hold on a minute hey mp here's a couple more for you if you're saving them okay how's it going sarge so long jojo you're getting a lot better than deserve hey your outfit did all right over on that hill not bad but they're gonna do better next time because i'm gonna give him a lesson i just learned from a and i mean i'm gonna hammer it into him but kind of a lesson a lesson on how to get killed [Music] you
