How the Colonies Grew

By the 1700’s the French had come to Canada and down the Mississippi, the Dutch along the Hudson shore, the Swedes the Delaware, the Spanish to Mexico and the English to settle on the Atlantic coast. These people worked hard to establish a good life in the towns and on the farms, learning much from the Indians. They wanted to be represented when new laws were made for them; and when King George added more taxes the Colonies joined together and rebelled. From the “A Nation is Born” series.
