Description: Demonstrates the effect alcohol has on driving abilities by comparing the driving performances of four professional and three street drivers after each navigates a precision test course while sober and then after drinking. Reports on research done at UCLA which illustrates that driving is a divided concentration task and that alcohol, a depressant, slows the driver's reaction time. Cautions that, even though the legal limit for determining drunkenness in most states is .10 alcohol in the blood, one's own personal limit may be lower.
