This is a 13+ minute 16mm Kodachrome film (NOT Technicolor, despite what the title screen claims) of Sonja Henie's "Hollywood On Ice" show at Madison Square Garden in January 1939. As far as I can tell, this is the earliest publicly available COLOR footage of Henie, by several years. Her most recent film at the time was "My Lucky Star," and the finale of this performance features a version of the "Alice In Wonderland" segment from that film- though of course you see it here in COLOR for the first time! This film was shot by Jack B. Knudsen, who may have been an associate of her production company, as it's nicely shot, edited and features intertitles, including a credit to her production company, but it's also possible he was just a mega-fan who edited his film to appear "official." In any event, this is all original camera footage spliced together- not a copy made from a spliced master. The film itself is not in great shape. The color has faded toward blue/magenta, and there's alot of print-through ghosting in most scenes. Also, some segments of the film are shrunken/warped.
