Description: Presents the grim reality facing college graduates who find the promised higher standard of living based upon advanced education not only to be untrue, but actually a handicap in securing a job and questions education's role in career development. Depicts colleges as runaway education factories producing graduates trained in areas already over-supplied. Stresses the growing need for vocational programs and technical schools as alternate courses of study as there is a high demand for technically-trained individuals. Cites recent college graduates who are now working as cab drivers, janitors, painters, and newspaper deliverymen, including a recent Ph.D. unable to find a position after sending out hundreds of applications.
