This film deals with the expectations of drug users: the addiction cycle: and the goals and problems of substitutive programs such as methadone therapy. Interviews with professional members of community and goverment-sponsored treatment and rehabilitation centers and ex-addicts reveal that while there may be contradictory arguments about the best treatment for addicts, there is no disagreement about the damaging effects of heroin use-- physically and psychologically.
