In the period between 1948-1952, Truman faced problems of new aggression and the cold war abroad as well as sharp divisions on policy at home. He developed a strong civil rights program. In June 1950, Communist North Korea invaded South Korea. Truman took the issue to the United Nations, and an armed fource was sent.
