Complete Record: Shows how a group of students edits a motion picture. Surveys the film editing processes of assembling, selecting, rearranging, and discarding footage. LS of two boys picking up developed film from the drugstore. We follow them home and they put the raw footage into a projector. Lights out and let’s see what’s on the reel. Nice little song about how satisfying it is to have your friends watch your film. Kids see the zany shots they’ve made. But the kids agree that they need to edit the shots together properly to make a story. kid’s VO talks about arranging shots and the tools you need to edit home movies. Kids tape good shots to the wall in groups of categories. Discuss proper handling of film and rearranging shots. Once the shots are chosen, the kids show how to use cement and tape splicers. Then they rip music from an LP onto a reel to reel tape deck, and add voiceovers and a prerecorded interview to the reel to reel tape. “Well, I guess it’s time for our fist big screening.” “I guess so.”
